1980 - 1982 Principal - Office of Fair Trading - Restrictive Practices legislation re financial and professional services. Ran Stock Exchange case, leading to settlement and "Big Bang". Persuaded LIFFE to review and clear its rules before it started.

Principal - Department of Industry - Succeeded in "In-Service Principals Competition" (14 passed, from over 200). Member, wrote report, of "Working Party on Cutlery and Flatware Industry". Ran "Paper and Board Industry Scheme".

Chief Accountant - Department of Industry. Negotiated and wrote North Sea Oil Royalty rules in comprehensible form, agreed with industry, on time.
1975 - 1977
Chief Accountant - Ministry of Defence. Early promotion from Senior Accountant. Investigated and negotiated costs, overhead rates and CP:CE ratios. Mainly electronics contractors, e.g. GEC/Marconi, Cossor and Racal.
